CSA Description and Benefits

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a program in which consumers support a local farm by subscribing and paying a seasonal fee in exchange for receiving fresh local produce. In our CSA programs, subscribers pick up their portion of the harvest at one of several pickup points.

There are many CSA program benefits. As a subscriber, you will:

  1. Receive our produce, including a wide variety of traditional and specialty crops.
  2. Enjoy 100% USDA Certified Organic produce grown by us without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides.
  3. Experience fresh, nutritious produce that is pre-chilled and delivered to numerous pickup points.
  4. Know the source of the food you eat and support local organic farming.
  5. Support the protection of the environment.
  6. Receive weekly emails which include information such as the week’s crop list, farm news, recipes, and cooking, handling, and storage tips.

2023 All 4 Seasons CSA – 38 total weeks – All of the produce for our CSA is grown by us and is USDA certified organic. Thus, each week you will receive those crops that are in season locally.

Our All 4 Seasons CSA begins in early March and includes the four growing seasons – Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. Descriptions of those seasons are listed below.

Our Spring Season, which runs for 8 weeks, begins in late February or early March and ends by early May.

It is likely that there will be weeks that we do not deliver because of weather conditions. Our plan is to send an email on Saturdays that will inform you as to whether there will be a pickup the next week or not. Typically your portion will include cool season crops such as lettuce, kale, cabbage, spinach, chard, radishes, bunching onions, beets, kohlrabi, arugula, carrots, endive, escarole, turnips, sorrel, fennel, and mustard.

Our Summer Season, which runs for 14 weeks, begins in mid May and ends in mid August.

Typically your portion will include some combination of lettuce, broccoli, Italian cauliflower, spinach, arugula, kale, beets, carrots, turnips, kohlrabi, onions and cabbages in May and June. In late June and July, you can expect to see the addition of tomatoes, potatoes, sweet corn, cucumbers, squash, zucchini, fennel, and basil and other herbs. In late July and August, your portion will include some combination of cucumbers, squash, peppers, herbs, tomatoes, eggplant, beans, cantaloupes, watermelons, and zucchini.

Our Fall Season, which runs for 9 weeks, begins in mid September and ends in November.

Typically your portion will include crops such as sweet peppers, tomatoes, onions, potatoes, eggplant, beans, lettuce, kale, bok choy, tatsoi, cabbage, radishes, bunching onions, kohlrabi, arugula, collards, sweet potatoes, and turnips.

The Winter Season, which runs for 7 weeks, begins in early December and ends in February.

We plan to have no deliveries for the two weeks that include Christmas and New Year’s Day. Additionally, it is likely that there will be weeks that we do not deliver in the winter because of weather conditions. Our best estimate is that we will have 2 or 3 CSA weeks in December, 2 or 3 in January, and 1 or 2 in February for a total of 7 weeks. Our plan is to send an email on Saturdays that will inform you as to whether there will be a pickup the next week or not. Typically your portion will include crops such as lettuce, arugula, escarole, sweet potatoes, bunching onions, kale, bok choy, tatsoi, cabbage, radishes, kohlrabi, collards, broccoli, mustard greens, carrots, and turnips.
